The completion of a building significant enough to be a milestone in its own right, and the emergence of an entirely new building type or urban role for the first time: the completion of towers such as the Eiffel Tower and the Burj Khalifa, of buildings such as the Seagram Building and the Sydney Opera House, the recognition of the first skyscraper, and the inauguration of a purpose-built new capital such as Brasilia. Belongs here: any milestone centered on a specific building reaching completion or a genuinely new building type or urban role appearing for the first time. Does not belong here: a building's later demolition, restoration or the urban rebuilding that followed its loss, grouped under urban transformation, loss and preservation.
