The Kyiv Television Center, nicknamed the Pencil, is a modernist broadcasting skyscraper on Yuri Illienko Street in Kyiv, Ukraine, planned from the 1960s, begun in 1983, and opened in 1992 as the headquarters of Ukrainian public television. The building rises 105 meters over 24 floors, built from reinforced concrete towers spanned by 20 meter steel beams, an unusual method for Kyiv at the time, and is topped by a glass and aluminum pyramid crown above a 20 story editorial tower faced in golden brown cladding with continuous ribbon windows. The center has stood empty since operations evacuated to Kyiv's older television and radio center on March 8, 2022, after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, with the building placed under preservation measures while renovation plans are considered.
