Suzhou IFS, short for Suzhou International Financial Square, rises in the Suzhou Industrial Park in eastern China, completed in 2019 to a design by the American firm Kohn Pedersen Fox. At roughly 452 meters it is the tallest building in Suzhou and one of the tallest in China, combining office space, a shopping mall and a hotel within a single tapered tower crowned by a public observation level. Its exterior combines glass curtain wall with vertical metal fins that run the height of the tower, a detailing choice intended to give the otherwise smooth glass form a more textured, articulated profile from street level. The tower anchors a cluster of new financial-district skyscrapers built as part of Suzhou's rapid growth as a commercial center within the wider Yangtze River Delta region.
