Asa and Caroline Wing House

The Asa and Caroline Wing House, at Mexico in Oswego County, New York, is a one and a half story frame house probably built in the 1830s on a fieldstone foundation, of post and beam construction with plank walls under a gable roof, in the Mid Nineteenth Century Revival style. Asa Wing and his wife Caroline Mitchell Wing, who had married in 1843, bought the 13 acre property in 1847, and the house served as a documented Underground Railroad station; from December 24 to 27, 1850, Asa Wing sheltered seven members of the Thompson family on their flight to Canada. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 4, 2001, as part of the Freedom Trail, Abolitionism, and African American Life in Central New York multiple property submission.
