Beall-Air

Beall-Air, also known as the Colonel Lewis William Washington House, is a two story stuccoed brick house in the classical revival style near Halltown in Jefferson County, West Virginia. Its original section is believed to predate 1800, and the front portion that gives the house its present appearance, with Ionic columns on the portico and pilasters at the corners, was added in 1820. The house was the home of Colonel Lewis William Washington, a great-great-nephew of President George Washington, and gained lasting notice when John Brown's raiders seized a sword and pistols that had belonged to George Washington from the property during the 1859 raid on Harpers Ferry. Beall-Air was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.
