Blackwell Grange, now operated as a hotel, is a historic mansion whose estate and existing manor house were bought by George Allan from Thomas Hill in 1693. George Allan added the south wing between 1717 and 1722, and the property descended through the Allan family, including the antiquarian George Allan the younger, who used it to house his historical collections until they were sold in 1822.
