The Bolshoi Theatre is a historic opera house in Moscow, Russia, originally designed by architect Joseph Bove and opened in 1825 with a neoclassical facade prominent enough to appear on Russian currency. It is home to the Bolshoi Ballet and Bolshoi Opera, among the oldest and best known ballet and opera companies in the world, and underwent an extensive six year renovation, reopening on 28 October 2011 with its acoustics and original condition restored.
