The Burt-Stark Mansion, also known as the Armistead Burt House, stands in Abbeville, South Carolina, and was the site of the last Council of War held by cabinet members of the Confederate government. On May 2, 1865, Jefferson Davis met there hoping to continue the struggle, but found unanimous opposition among those present and recognized that the Confederate cause for independence was lost.
