Butantã's House

Butantã's House, also called the Bandeirante's House, is a colonial era house in the Butantã district of São Paulo, Brazil, built in the first half of the 18th century in the local Bandeirista style. It is a rare surviving example of a rural dwelling from São Paulo's early urban fringe, built using the taipa de pilão and taipa de mão rammed earth techniques characteristic of Bandeirista construction. The house has stood through the city's later urban and social transformation and today survives as a record of colonial era building methods.
