Corotoman

Corotoman was a seventeenth- and eighteenth-century plantation on the Rappahannock River in Lancaster County, Virginia, seat of colonial Virginia governor Robert Carter I, whose landholdings grew to some 300,000 acres across 48 plantations. The Georgian mansion built around 1720 and completed by 1725 burned down in 1729. The property was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1970 and is now managed by the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities.
