Craig Ailey

Craig Ailey, formerly known as Italian Villa, is a Lombardic Romanesque Revival and Italianate villa on South Ailey Road in Cove, Argyll, Scotland, perched on a cliff overlooking the Firth of Clyde and Loch Long. It was designed in 1850 by the architect Alexander Thomson, later known as Greek Thomson, and built around 1852 for the builder and developer John McElroy, who had feued land in the Cove and Kilcreggan area from the eighth Duke of Argyll. The villa is an example of the residential development that took place in the district during that period and has been a Category A listed building since May 14, 1971.
