Dr. Sylvester Willard Mansion

The Dr. Sylvester Willard Mansion is a historic house at 203 West Genesee Street in Auburn, New York, built between 1836 and 1843 to a design by architect John Seymour. The two story, five bay brick building stands on a stone foundation in the Greek Revival style, distinguished by a monumental pedimented portico carried on massive fluted Ionic columns. A large dining wing and a palazzo like wing were added in the 1870s and 1880s in a Classical Revival idiom, and the house retains a rare domestic Tiffany Glass window from around 1894 to 1896 along with an ornate cast iron fence and wrought iron garden gate. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 13, 1989, and now houses the Cayuga Museum of History and Art together with the Case Research Lab.
