Escrick Park

Escrick Park is a historic house and country estate in the village of Escrick in North Yorkshire, England, formed by Picot de Lascelles in the mid-12th century, with a manor house first recorded in 1323. The estate descended through the family until 1668, when it was sold to Henry Thompson, whose son rebuilt the country house in the 1680s; the architect John Carr of York extended it in 1758 and around 1765, adding a long north range, a detached stable block, and remodeled interiors. Further additions followed in the 19th century, and in 1929 the family made nearby Skipwith Hall its main residence, converting Escrick Park into flats; it was later leased, and then purchased in 1974, by Queen Margaret's School, which has used the building since 1949, and it has been Grade II* listed since 1951.
