Falaknuma Palace

Falaknuma Palace, in Hyderabad, was built in the 1870s and 1880s by Nawab Vikar-ul-Umra, a nobleman of Hyderabad state, in an Italianate style with English and Tudor influences; its name is generally translated as mirror of the sky, describing its hilltop position overlooking the city. The palace was later acquired by the Nizam of Hyderabad and used to host state guests, including British royalty. It contains an extensive library and one of the largest privately commissioned dining tables of its era. The building was restored in the twenty-first century and now operates as a heritage hotel.
