Florence Court

Florence Court is an 18th-century country house and estate in the foothills of Cuilcagh Mountain, about eight miles southwest of Enniskillen in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. Its central block, built for John Cole and named after his wife Florence Bourchier Wrey, was constructed between about 1730 and 1764 and is attributed to the architect Richard Cassels, with flanking colonnades and pavilions added around 1771, some attributed to Davis Ducart. The house is noted for its baroque plasterwork and later rococo interior decoration, and the estate contains the Florence Court Yew, from which nearly all Irish yews grown worldwide are said to descend. A fire in 1955 destroyed the upper floors before the National Trust, which has owned the property since 1953, carried out an extensive restoration.
