Grand Central Terminal

Grand Central Terminal is a commuter rail terminal at 42nd Street and Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, opened on February 2, 1913. Designed jointly by the firms Reed and Stem and Warren and Wetmore, it is built in the Beaux-Arts style and is the southern terminus for Metro-North Railroad's Harlem, Hudson and New Haven lines, connecting through Grand Central Madison to the Long Island Rail Road. The terminal has 44 platforms serving 67 tracks, one of the largest train stations in the world by platform count, and it ranks as the third-busiest train station in North America. Beyond its rail function, the building draws roughly 21.6 million visitors a year who come for its architecture and its numerous artworks rather than to catch a train.
