Harewood House is a Palladian stately home in Harewood, West Yorkshire, England, built between 1759 and 1771 for Edwin Lascelles, 1st Baron Harewood, to the design of the architects John Carr and Robert Adam, with grounds laid out across 1,000 acres by Lancelot Capability Brown. Lascelles's fortune, like the house he built with it, was founded on plantation and slave ownership in the Caribbean. A Grade I listed building still home to the Lascelles family and managed by the Harewood House Trust, it is a member of the Treasure Houses of England consortium and is open to the public for most of the year.
