The House of the Savior is an architectural complex in the historic center of Naples, Italy, built from 1554 as the seat of the Jesuit Maximum College, with early construction guided by Giovanni Tristano and Giovanni De Rosis. Giuseppe Valeriano designed its Monumental Cloister, begun in 1605 and completed in 1653, and Stefano Gasse added further monuments during the period of French rule; the complex now comprises two buildings around courtyards, separated by the Church of Gesu Vecchio. Following the Jesuits' expulsion in 1767 the complex passed to public educational use, and it today houses the University of Naples Federico II's Department of Experimental Biology and Department of Earth Sciences laboratories, the Museum Center of Natural and Physical Sciences, the university library and law department facilities, and the Accademia Pontaniana.
