Ishitani Residence

The Ishitani Residence is a family residence in Chizu, Tottori Prefecture, Japan, built by the upper-class Ishitani family in an area that flourished during the Edo period as one of Japan's largest post stations along the Inaba Kaido. In the early 20th century the residence was greatly expanded to incorporate Western-style elements alongside its Japanese-style structure, and it now spans two floors and forty rooms as an important part of the historic Itaibara settlement. A number of its buildings are designated Important Cultural Properties, and its gardens are a registered Place of Scenic Beauty.
