The Jacob Sloat House, originally called Harmony Hall, is a wood-frame house on Liberty Rock Road in Sloatsburg, New York, built between 1846 and 1848 for Jacob Sloat, a textile merchant who made his fortune from mills on the Ramapo River and is credited with inventing the cap spindle and the gimlet-pointed wood screw. The house shows a transition between architectural fashions, with Greek Revival features dominating the exterior even as newer Picturesque and Italianate trends appear inside. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006, the house is now owned by the Town of Ramapo, which plans to develop it into a historic house museum and cultural center.
