The James W. Marshall House is a Federal-style brick residence at 60 Bridge Street in Lambertville, Hunterdon County, New Jersey, built in 1816 by Philip Marshall, who purchased about five acres of land from Joseph Lambert for 300 dollars. It was the childhood home of James W. Marshall, son of Philip Marshall, whose January 1848 discovery of gold in the American River of California set off the California Gold Rush. The house now serves as the headquarters of the Lambertville Historical Society and is open to the public as a historic house museum; it was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 18, 1970, and to the New Jersey Register of Historic Places on September 11, 1970, for both its architectural and historical significance.
