Lee Hall Mansion

Lee Hall Mansion is a historic brick plantation house near the junction of U.S. 60 and Virginia 238 in Newport News, Virginia, built between 1848 and 1859 for planter Richard Decatur Lee, for whom the mansion and the surrounding community were named. During the 1862 Peninsula Campaign of the American Civil War the house served as headquarters for Confederate generals Joseph E. Johnston and John B. Magruder. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972, the mansion is now open to the public as a museum while its former kitchen building serves as staff offices.
