Liege-Guillemins railway station

Liege-Guillemins is the main railway station of Liege, Belgium, designed by Santiago Calatrava to replace an older nineteenth-century station on the same site and officially opened on September 18, 2009. The station has no conventional facade; instead, a single monumental arch of steel, glass and white concrete, about 160 meters long and 32 meters high, runs the length of the platforms, which are left open to the outdoors at either end. Nine tracks and five platforms pass beneath the structure, and the project cost around 312 million euros. The building is regarded as one of Calatrava's major railway commissions alongside his station in Lisbon.
