The Louvre Pyramid is a large glass and metal entrance structure and skylight in the main courtyard of the Louvre Palace in Paris, designed by the architect I. M. Pei and completed in 1989 as part of the Grand Louvre renovation project. It serves as the principal entrance to the Louvre Museum, lighting the underground visitor hall below while preserving sightlines to the surrounding palace, and it is surrounded by three smaller companion pyramids that serve as lightwells.
