Menokin

Menokin, also known as the Francis Lightfoot Lee House, is a Georgian plantation house near Warsaw in Richmond County, Virginia, built in 1769 for Declaration of Independence signer Francis Lightfoot Lee as a wedding gift from his father-in-law, Colonel John Tayloe II. The house survives today largely in ruins, though it retains roughly 80 percent of its original stonework, brick, framing and interior woodwork across its 590-acre grounds, and the Menokin Foundation has developed a restoration plan that fills missing sections with structural glass rather than traditional reconstruction. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1971.
