One57

One57 is a 75 story supertall skyscraper at 157 West 57th Street in Manhattan, combining luxury condominiums with a Park Hyatt hotel along the corridor known as Billionaires' Row. The French architect Christian de Portzamparc designed the tower, with SLCE Architects serving as architect of record, following land acquisition that began in 1998 and construction that ran from 2010 to completion in 2014. Its facade uses 8,200 glass panels in more than 2,200 distinct shapes across shades of blue and pewter, a pattern intentionally recalling the paintings of Gustav Klimt, while curved setbacks along 57th Street evoke cascading waterfalls beneath a curved roof. One57 was the first ultra luxury condominium tower built on Billionaires' Row and set records for the city's most expensive residential sales, though its design has since drawn criticism from architecture commentators.
