The Palacio de Bellas Artes is a prominent cultural center in Mexico City that hosts performing arts events, literature events and plastic arts galleries and exhibitions. Known for short as Bellas Artes, and sometimes called the art cathedral of Mexico, it stands on the western side of the city's historic center, close to the Alameda Central park.
