Plas Wilmot

Plas Wilmot is a substantial suburban villa near Oswestry in the United Kingdom, its Welsh name meaning mansion. The house was originally built around 1829 of red brick with a slate roof, with additions made in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and it was the birthplace of First World War poet Wilfred Owen on 18 March 1893. It became a Grade II listed building in 2012 following a campaign by the Oswestry Civic Society and other local groups, and its grounds were put up for sale in 2013 after planning permission was granted for new houses on the land.
