Qasr Al Watan, in Abu Dhabi, is the presidential palace of the United Arab Emirates, completed in 2017 as a working seat of government that was also deliberately opened to the public as a cultural institution documenting the country's system of governance, in contrast with most active heads-of-state residences elsewhere. The building was constructed in a contemporary interpretation of Arabian and Islamic architectural traditions, emphasizing domes, arches and geometric ornamentation. It houses a great hall beneath a large ornamented central dome, along with a library and formal halls used for state gift presentations.
