The Royal Palace of Brussels is the official palace of the King and Queen of the Belgians, used for state functions and receptions, though the royal family resides at the Royal Palace of Laeken outside the city center. It occupies the site of former ducal residences and reached largely its present form under King Leopold II in the late nineteenth century. The palace faces Brussels Park across from the Belgian Federal Parliament building. Its state rooms and grounds are opened to the public each summer.
