The Royal Palace of Turin was the former principal residence of the House of Savoy, the ruling dynasty of the Kingdom of Sardinia and later the Kingdom of Italy, built from the sixteenth century onward on the site of an earlier bishop's palace. Its state rooms display Baroque decoration by court architects and artists including Filippo Juvarra, and the palace anchors a wider group of Savoy residences in and around Turin that were collectively inscribed together as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is now operated as a museum of the Savoy royal collections.
