Santi Bartolomeo e Gaetano

Santi Bartolomeo e Gaetano is a Renaissance-style Roman Catholic church in central Bologna, Italy, near the city's Two Towers, on a site that held a medieval church dedicated to Saint Bartholomew from the 5th century, home to Benedictine monks until the 16th century. Historical accounts date the present church's founding to 1516, with construction beginning in 1517 to a design by Giovanni Battista Falcetti, elaborated by Agostino Barelli and Giovanni Battista Natali. The Theatine order took over the church in 1599 and commissioned a major restructuring in 1627, and the bell tower and final chapels were completed by 1694.
