Tigbourne Court

Tigbourne Court is a house at Wormley, Surrey, England, about a mile south of Witley, designed by the architect Edwin Lutyens and built between 1899 and 1901 in the Arts and Crafts style, blending seventeenth-century vernacular forms with classical details. Its U-shaped west front has a Doric porch, paired brick chimneys, decorative tile banding and walls of galleted Bargate stone, and inside a circular ground-floor plan centers on a staircase beside a drawing room with an inglenook fireplace; the garden holds a Grade II listed pergola of alternating circular and square brick columns, planted to a scheme by Gertrude Jekyll with vines, roses, a circular dipping well and clipped yew topiary on the terrace. Grade I listed and still privately owned, it has been described as probably Lutyens's best work for its architectural geometry, wit and texture.
