Villa Carlotta

Villa Carlotta is a villa and botanical garden on Lake Como in Tremezzo, in northern Italy, completed by 1745 by an architect whose identity is not recorded. The estate now operates as a museum whose collection includes sculptures by Antonio Canova and Bertel Thorvaldsen and paintings by Francesco Hayez, alongside furniture left by its former owners. Its garden covers about eight hectares and is known for its Italian terraces and a collection of more than 150 varieties of rhododendron and azalea, together with a bamboo garden of more than 3,000 square meters.
