Villa del Poggio Imperiale

Villa del Poggio Imperiale is a predominantly neoclassical former grand ducal villa in Arcetri, just south of Florence in Tuscany, Italy. It began as a villa of the Baroncelli family of Florence before being seized by the Medici, becoming home to a Medici princess and later a lavish retreat for a Grand Duchess with imperial ambitions. It was given to Napoleon's sister, reclaimed by the hereditary rulers of Tuscany, and eventually converted into a prestigious girls' school, having been rebuilt and redesigned many times over its long history at the center of Italy's turbulent past.
