Villa Della Porta Bozzolo

Villa Della Porta Bozzolo is a Renaissance villa in Casalzuigno, in the province of Varese in northern Italy, which began in the 16th century as a rural retreat before becoming an aristocratic residence. Its Italian garden of terraces and water features was added in the 18th century, and at the end of the 17th century Gian Angelo Della Porta III commissioned architect Antonio Maria Porani to redesign the grounds with the garden's main axis set parallel to the house rather than aligned with its central hall; architect Pellegatta added an ornamental cascading fountain in 1723. Heirs of Italian senator and pathologist Camillo Bozzolo bequeathed the villa to the Fondo per l'Ambiente Italiano, Italy's National Trust, which now manages it.
