Villa Erba

Villa Erba is a nineteenth century villa in the classical style on the western shore of Lake Como at Cernobbio in northern Italy, built by Luigi Erba, brother of the founder of the Erba pharmaceutical company, to display his wealth and status. After Luigi's death the villa passed to his daughter Carla, whose son, the filmmaker Luchino Visconti, was among the family members who used the property. A public consortium bought the villa in 1986 to run it as an exhibition and congress center, and it now hosts events, film productions and concerts.
