Villa Hugel is a nineteenth century mansion of 269 rooms set in a 28 hectare park in the Bredeney district of Essen, Germany, commissioned by the industrialist Alfred Krupp. Ground was broken in April 1870 and the house was finished in 1873, when the Krupp family moved in on January 10 of that year. The Krupp family opened the villa to the public in 1953, and since 1984 it has been run by the Ruhr Cultural Foundation, which uses it for art and cultural exhibitions, houses the Krupp historical archive, and hosts concerts by the Folkwang Kammerorchester Essen.
