Villa Mirafiori is a Neo-Renaissance villa on the Via Nomentana in Rome, Italy, built between 1874 and 1878. King Victor Emmanuel II commissioned the villa, which has three floors, an entrance loggia, two projecting side wings and an eclectic bell tower, as a residence for Rosa Vercellana, Countess of Mirafiori, after moving his court to Rome when the city became Italys capital in 1870. The king married Vercellana civilly at the villa on October 7, 1877, and died only three months later, after which she moved away. Sapienza University of Rome has owned the villa since 1975, and it now houses the universitys Department of Philosophy along with part of the Department of Developmental Psychology.
