Villa Monacone

Villa Monacone is a villa on the island of Capri, Italy, built into the rocky slope of the mountain near Pizzolungo and facing the Faraglioni rock formations, from which its own name derives from the Monacone rock. The house departs from the typical Capri villa layout in that its porch, with columns and cross vaults, opens directly onto interior rooms rather than the kitchen. The German novelist Monika Mann lived there with Antonio Spadaro from 1954 to 1986, and the Romanian historian Mircea Eliade stayed in an annex; the villa today comprises three independent residential units across several levels.
