Villa Wertheimstein

Villa Wertheimstein is a Biedermeier house in the Dobling district of Vienna, Austria, transformed in 1834 and 1835 by the industrialist Rudolf von Arthaber and later purchased in 1870 by the banker Leopold von Wertheimstein and his wife Josephine. In the villa, Josephine von Wertheimstein and her daughter Franziska held literary salons that made it a gathering place for Vienna's liberal intellectual circles, until Franziska bequeathed the property to the city in 1908. The building now houses the Dobling District Museum beside the adjoining Wertheimstein Park, which bears the family's name.
