Europa Nostra is a pan-European federation for cultural heritage, formed in 1963 and headquartered in The Hague, Netherlands, with a further office in Brussels, Belgium. It represents citizens organisations working to safeguard Europes cultural and natural heritage, comprising more than 250 member organisations, some 150 associated bodies including governmental and local authorities, and around 1,500 individual members across more than 40 countries, making it the largest and most representative heritage network in Europe. Europa Nostra acts as the voice of this movement to the European Union, the Council of Europe and UNESCO, and since 2002 has run the European Heritage Awards, also known as the Europa Nostra Awards, in partnership with the European Commission.
