Mercury City Tower rises within the Moscow International Business Center, known as Moscow-City, completed in 2013 to a design led by the architects Frank Williams and Mikhail Posokhin. At roughly 339 meters across its 75 stories, it was the tallest building in Europe at the time of its completion, a title it held until Russia's own Lakhta Center in Saint Petersburg surpassed it several years later. Its facade is clad in bronze and gold-tinted reflective glass, a coloring commonly read as an allusion to the tower's name, and its tapering, faceted massing narrows in stages as it rises rather than holding a uniform footprint. The tower combines office space with residential apartments in the upper floors, part of the broader mixed-use ambition of the Moscow-City development, a cluster of skyscrapers built on a former industrial site along the Moskva River beginning in the 1990s.
