Archibald Rogers Estate

The Archibald Rogers Estate, also known as Crumwold, is a mansion in Hyde Park, Dutchess County, New York, designed by the architect Richard Morris Hunt and completed in 1886 in a Renaissance and Chateauesque style. Archibald Rogers bought the 68-acre property, first developed by Elias Butler in 1842, in 1889; the three-story granite house has sandstone trim, eight stone chimneys, a center parapet and three towers with conical and pyramidal roofs, along with a carriage house and cottage. Its later uses have included housing the military police who protected President Franklin Roosevelt from 1942 to 1945 and serving as Eymard Seminary High School under Catholic Church ownership; the Millennial Kingdom Family Church, an ecumenical organization, has owned the hall and 69 acres since 1983, while more than 500 houses now stand on the rest of the former Crumwold lands. Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993, the building was damaged by a fire of undetermined origin on January 1, 2026.
