Camp Topridge

Camp Topridge is an Adirondack Great Camp of 68 buildings on 207 acres near Keese Mill, New York, on an esker between Spectacle Ponds and Upper St. Regis Lake about 12 miles from Saranac Lake. Marjorie Merriweather Post, daughter of C. W. Post and former owner of General Foods, bought the site in 1920 and substantially expanded it in 1923, working with the builder Ben Muncil and the architect Theodore Blake in the Adirondack rustic style. The estate included a living room measuring 65 by 50 feet with a movie screen, a 30 seat dining room, guest cabins with their own butlers and a Russian style dacha, and in its early years guests reached it only by floatplane or boat followed by a funicular ride to the main lodge. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986, the camp is now owned by the businessman Harlan Crow, who bought it in 1994 and has carried out extensive restoration and additions.
