The 102 story Art Deco tower by Shreve, Lamb and Harmon at Fifth Avenue and 34th Street, New York, built in a famous thirteen months and opened in 1931 in the depths of the Depression. The tallest building in the world for forty years, it became the archetype of the skyscraper itself.
