John Deere World Headquarters

The John Deere World Headquarters is the corporate campus of the agricultural equipment maker Deere and Company at One John Deere Place in Moline, Illinois, spanning roughly 1,200 acres. The original main and display buildings were designed by Eero Saarinen and completed in 1964, with later additions by the Roche-Dinkeloo firm, Deere West in 1978 and a Financial Services Building in 1981, and landscape design by Sasaki Associates. The complex is built of weathering Cor-Ten steel and glass and was among the first architectural applications of that material, with the main building set into a ravine and reached by footbridges. It won the American Institute of Architects First Honor Award in 1965 and the Twenty-five Year Award in 1993, and its integration of industrial materials with natural landscape influenced later corporate campus design.
