Sainsbury's, Camden is a supermarket building at 17-21 Camden Road in the London Borough of Camden, designed by Nicholas Grimshaw and Partners and built between 1986 and 1988 on the site of the former Aerated Bread Company bakery. Its high-tech architectural style is built around an exposed steel frame, aluminium panelling, and extensive glazing, and the scheme also includes adjoining residential terraces, office space, and a creche, bounded by the Grand Union Canal and two major roads. On its opening in December 1988 The Guardian called it Building of the Year, and the Royal Fine Art Commission praised it as an example of bold and enlightened patronage. In 2019 it became the first purpose-built supermarket in England to receive a Grade II listing.
