Torre Agbar is a 144-metre, 38-story office tower in Barcelona, designed by the French architect Jean Nouvel with the Spanish firm b720 Fermin Vazquez Arquitectos and completed in 2004. Built as the headquarters of the water utility Agbar Group, whose name it originally carried before a 2017 sale led to its renaming as Torre Glories, the tower's bullet shaped profile was intended to evoke a geyser rising into the air and drew inspiration from the silhouette of the nearby mountain of Montserrat. Its facade is wrapped in thousands of aluminum louvers over a double glass skin, and more than 4,500 LED devices embedded in it can generate illuminated images in as many as 16 million colors after dark, a display used every New Year's Eve since 2006. The tower cost about 130 million euros to build and won the International Highrise Award in 2006, becoming one of Barcelona's most recognizable modern landmarks despite standing only third tallest in the city.
