Torrechiara Castle is a fifteenth century fortress and noble residence near Langhirano in the province of Parma in northern Italy, built on a terraced hill above the Parma river valley with four rectangular towers linked by fortified walls. Pier Maria II de' Rossi, fourth count of San Secondo, commissioned it between 1448 and 1460 as both a defensive stronghold and a home for his mistress Bianca Pellegrini d'Arluno. Declared a national monument in 1911 and bought by the Italian state in 1912, the castle suffered earthquake damage in 2008 and reopened after extensive renovation in July 2014; it is now managed by the Polo Museale dell'Emilia Romagna as a public museum.
